Harborview Hospital and Medical
Center. Board. Served 10 years on the Board of Trustees for Harborview Hospital
and Medical Center, a King County owned, teaching hospital with over 50 outpatient clinics managed by the University of
Washington School of Medicine. Harborview is included in the medical
school's $2 billion a year operating budget. --Merrily helped stimulate vital research on the use of nutrients for a
common and extremely dangerous condition often occurring in trauma patients brought to the emergency
room.
--She worked with the King County Council and Executive to help bring the
successful appointment of the first naturopathic physician to a US mainstream hospital board of
trustees. The naturopathic physician is presently serving a second,
four-year term on the board of Harborview Medical Center.

| Bastyr University.
Board. Served six years
on the Board of Trustees of Bastyr University, an internationally
recognized university of natural health sciences, natural medicine, and applied behavioral
science. Through the initiation of the landmark King County Natural Medicine Clinic project, she
helped bring nationwide and international recognition and widespread visibility to Bastyr. Enrollment
during that time tripled as a result of many factors, most significantly, the visibility and
credibility brought because of the creation of the first integrative primary care clinic in the US funded with
public dollars. Bastyr is a fully accredited university.
